Concert scheduled to kick of Lowell holidays

A special concert is on the schedule in Lowell, to start the holidays in style.

Michael W. Smith is coming to Lowell, with Marc Martel as his special guest. A singer, activist, and author, Smith is a three-time Grammy winner, a recipient of the American Music Award, and has received 45 Dove Awards. He has sold over 15 million albums, and has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

This performance will feature music from his noted album ‘Michael W. Smith & Friends: The Spirit of Christmas’. The album features collaborations with artists such as Carrie Underwood, Vince Gill, and Bono.

A review of a concert Smith gave in Minneapolis calls him “spectacular,” as well as “witty and comedic,” even in his tenderest moments.

Marc Martel toured and recorded with the Canadian group Downhere for 13 years before he caught the public’s attention with his YouTube videos. His video performance went viral, leading to an invitation to appear on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and an appearance on ‘American Idol’ with the surviving Queen members. Since then, he has gone on to sing as the frontman for The Queen Extravaganza, a Queen tribute band. Queen drummer Roger Taylor says Martel sounds exactly like Freddie Mercury.

The concert will take place in the Lowell Memorial Auditorium from 7:30 pm until 10:30 pm on December 20. Flyer printing can be used to create programs for special events like this.
