Chance for rafting offered in Lowell

Zoar Outdoor, in partnership with the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust, is holding rafting trips along the Concord River during the months of April and May.

The trip follows three major rapids—Twisted Sister, Three Beauties, and Middlesex Dam. Along the route, there are blooming grape arbors and close-up views of wildlife. Centennial Island is passed, which is the location of the well-known West End Gym. It concludes by going through a lock chamber dating back to the 1850s that returns travelers to the center of Lowell.

The work of the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust receives the proceeds from these Concord River whitewater rafting trips. The Trust is involved in protecting the land along the Concord River. So far, it has established the Concord River Greenway Park, which has a multiuse recreational trail. There are multilingual wayside historic Signs, public art installations, and outdoor classes at the northern and southern ends of the trail.

Last fall, the Trust completed the section on Rogers Street so that access to the river for the Back Central neighborhood of Lowell was made possible.

This special trip is being offered on weekends from now through May so the Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust may be looking to various marketing services to promote the trip to those in the city and the surrounding communities.
