Billerica woman looks to raise funds for childhood diabetes

The Team PosiTiffy event will be held later this month to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Dracut.

Dracut is across the Merrimack River from Lowell, so residents of both communities will want to attend and contribute to this worthy cause.

The event was started in 2012 by Tiffany Carlson, then aged 26, from Billerica who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was nine years old. She has continued to help find a cure for the disease since then by raising money for research that can help other children who have the disease.

Carlson works at an office of a local pediatrician and hopes to become a nurse practitioner, helping children with Type 1 diabetes.

The Team PosiTiffy event will take place on September 23 at the Lo Kai in Dracut from 7:00 pm until midnight. A DJ and a 50/50 raffle will be featured at the event, along with raffles for individual items such as gift cards to several restaurants, as well as larger items like a weekend stay in a deluxe cabin with loft at Moody Beach Maine, and a football donated by the New England Patriots and signed by Dante Hightower.

Carlson might benefit from the assistance of a local printing company to promote the event and gather more sponsors by using Flyers and other printed materials.
