Winter Skate returned to Patriot Place in Foxboro on Friday, November 14 with a special opening ceremony.
Kicking off the opening of the outdoor ice-skating rink were award-winning New England junior figure skaters Tori Rotella, 13, and Jamiesen Cyr, 12. The cheerleaders from the Patriots and their team mascot, Pat Patriot, also took to the ice as DJ Manny provided entertainment with the latest hits in music. Also part of the evening were MIX 104.1 and AMP Radio street teams.
A free night of skating was offered to those who donated a gently used or new coat to Cradles to Crayons. Coat donations will be accepted through the rest of the season until February 28 as part of the Coat Drive for Cradles to Crayons. There will be a reduction in the admissions price by $2 for those who donate. Most likely Winter Skate is turning to various printing services to let those who want to skate at the rink know of the discount available while providing for those in need during the holiday season.
The skating rink at Patriot Place is 60 by 140 feet in size and is designed specifically for recreational skating, being able to accommodate a range of skating abilities from beginners to experts. There is also an observation deck for those who do not skate.
