The Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) has awarded Foxborough Fire and Rescue Internationally Accredited Agency status.
News of such special accolades is often made known throughout a community with flyer printing services.
It has taken 3.5 years for the department to achieve this status and is the first municipal agency in Massachusetts to achieve this status. Foxborough Fire and Rescue is one of 123 such agencies in the country that are nationally accredited and rated ISO-1. Chief Michael Kelleher, assistant Chief Thomas Buckley, and all the 2252 members of the department were involved in this endeavor.
The fire department needed to complete an adopted standard of cover, a strategic plan driven by the community, and a comprehensive community risk assessment. There were 250 performance indicators to which staff need to reply and these indicators covered all aspects of the department from field operations to legal standing.
When the assessment was completed, the town was visited by a team of four peer assessors and verified the work that was done. An in-depth report was prepared by the team with their findings which was then reviewed by the Commission of Fire Accreditation International. Representatives from the department met in Florida with the Commission and they were interviewed and questioned so their responses previously submitted could be validated.
Internationally Accredited Status was then unanimously voted by the Commission to bestow on Foxborough Fire and Rescue.
