The town of Foxborough has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
News of such accomplishments is often disseminated throughout a town through the use of banner printing.
This is a great achievement for the town. It demonstrates that the staff and the local government are committed to achieving the highest principles of creating a budget for the government. To receive this award, the town had to demonstrate it had achieved guidelines that are nationally recognized for effective presentation of a budget. The guidelines look at how well a budget works as a communications device financial plan, a document of policy, and a guide for operations.
To receive this award, the budget documents need to have a proficient rating in all those categories and in the 14 required criteria of the categories. Receiving this award also means that the town has endeavored to improve its ability to create a high-quality budget and provide an example for other governments throughout the northern hemisphere.
A Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation is given to the town or department that is largely responsible for the award achievement. This certificate was presented to the Foxborough Finance Department.
The Budget Awards Program has more than 1,700 participants. The GFOA website publishes the most recent recipients of this award and the corresponding budget documents.
