The Town of Foxborough and the Foxborough Housing Authority (FHA) have been awarded $4m in MassWorks Infrastructure grant funds from the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development.
These funds will go towards the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Commercial and Walnut Streets. These improvements will enable the development by the FHA of 200 affordable apartments for seniors on 16 acres located at the corner of this intersection. Brochure printing is often used to provide residents interested in such projects with more details about features and amenities.
Paige Duncan, director of Land Use and Economic Development Director, has been working on this project for many years. The town received a Housing Choice Capital Grant three years ago to fund the design of the signal and a sewer system. Duncan added that having the designs completed and a development team for the property made the town eligible for this grant.
The housing project will be built in two phases. The first phase will have two three-story buildings with 141 units while the second phase will have one three-story building with 59 units.
The infrastructure improvements are expected to begin in the spring of next year and will take between a year and a year and a half to complete. Construction of the housing project is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2024.
