The Neponset Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s is on its way to Foxboro, and Steve Lesco from Sharon is leading a team of supporters in memory of his mother, Elaine Lesco. So far, the team has raised more than $900 for the walk and is still hopeful of more.
According to Lesco, he started doing the walk not only for the memory of his mother, but for two other women he knows who have the disease. The walk is especially meaningful to him as he has seen people who live with the disease and how it affects both them and their families.
The President and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, Jim Wessler, commented that the challenge to tackle Alzheimer’s is an extraordinary one, and the commitment of participants makes a large contribution to the battle.
Awards for the ‘Most Team Spirit’ and the ‘Vest T-shirt’ will be given out, and flyer printing has been used to create a piece with more information about these awards. There will also be activities and crafts for kids, including tattoos, inflatables, face painting, and music.
The walk will be taking place on Saturday, September 27 at Patriot Place. At 8:30 am, registration begins and a formal ceremony is at 9:30 am. Half an hour after this, the 2.5-mile walk gets underway.
