A pilot program of Commuter Rail Service by the MBTA will be starting this month from Foxborough.
The pilot program will last for one year and will run during the weekdays providing service between Foxborough and South Station in Boston. There will be 10 outbound trains and 11 inbound trains that will run along the Franklin and Fairmount Rail lines. During the program, parking for riders at Foxborough will be free.
The cost for the ride into Boston will be $8.75 for a one-way ticket; $17.50 for a round trip; and a monthly pass for $271 on the mTicket application and $281 with a CharlieTicket. More information about such schedules and their prices can be provided with flyer printing.
Steve Poftak, general manager of the MBTA, expressed his excitement about launching this weekday pilot program between South Station and Foxborough that will enable more people to have access to the Commuter Rail. He added his appreciation for the Kraft Group which is collaborating on this pilot to offer free parking during the pilot program. He said that the MBTA is committed to improving public transportation for all the communities that are served by the MBTA and they are looking forward to analyzing the data gathered during the pilot upon its completion.
The pilot program will begin on Monday, September 12.
