New principal to join school in Devens

Brian Harrigan, principal of Natick High School, will become the head of the Francis Parker Charter School in Devens. The school is open to all residents of Massachusetts in grades 7 through 12 by lottery admission.

Local printing services are often hired to spread the word about such appointments throughout a school community.

Harrigan said that it was the mission and pull of the charter school and its student population of 400 that drew him to the school, not so much wanting to leave the Natick School district. Harrigan has been in that school district since 2015.

The Board of Trustees at the school expressed their pleasure with this new head of school. They said that his qualifications of strong interpersonal skills and his values-driven leadership are ideal for the leadership of the school. The Board added that Harrigan firmly believes in student-centered education and has shown that he is committed to supporting the potential of every student in the school. Harrigan had expressed his excitement about joining the school and bringing to the school his passion for education and its core mission.

Harrigan was an assistant principal at Westwood High School prior to joining the Natick School District. He also taught social studies at Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C. for six years among other educational positions.

Harrigan will assume his new role beginning in July 2022.
