New biomanufacturing campus to be developed in Devens

King Street Properties, a real estate developer focused on the life sciences, is planning to build a biomanufacturing campus in Devens.

It will cover 45 acres and have five buildings with a total of 700,000 square feet. Principal with King Street Properties, Steve Lynch, said that this development will be part of a new business line to be called Pathway. He said that the 45 acres were created from one piece of land from a private sale, and two parcels of land on Jackson Road from MassDevelopment, a quasi-public agency. Graphic design is often used to highlight the layout and features of such projects.

Lynch added that he expects the development to cost $500m, of which $150m would be fixed costs and the remaining amount used for the sophisticated technical equipment needed on the campus for creating drugs for humans. He said that there is a great demand for such biomanufacturing space, which requires extra high ceilings for air filtrations systems in order to produce the drugs that are being invented.

The first building will be a warehouse spanning 100,000 square feet on Jackson Road. King Street has already received inquiries about the building, which is expected to be completed by the start of 2022. The developer plans to finish one building every six months after that.
