A mixed-use development may be coming to what was once a campus for IBM on King Street in Littleton.
The property, which spans 41 acres, has been purchased by the Lupoli Companies, which is proposing a new zoning district to be called King Street Common. It currently has one office building, which was once the home of IBM, and two commercial buildings. The complex will have parks, office space, space for small businesses, and housing, which might be of interest to residents in nearby Devens.
Additional details about the plans for the property include having interconnected areas with architecture typical of New England, and development close to the street allowing for the creation of civic spaces. The community can be informed of such projects being considered and can keep up-to-date with their progress through various printing services.
Finance director for Littleton, Aleesha Benjamin, said that development of the property could generate $2.5m in tax revenues for the town, which would be over $600,000 more than was generated by IBM.
This would be a multi-phase project, with the first phase of construction to begin in June of next year. This phase would take two years to complete, with the second phase beginning in 2024 and being completed in 2026. A third phase would take place at any time and run concurrently or after the other phases.
Town Meeting will vote on the zoning change at its meeting next Monday, October 25.
