Harvard receives funds from film company
Castle Rock Productions, which during the middle of last month spent several days shooting footage for its new series at New England Studios in Devens, and at sites in Orange and Harvard, recently donated $1,000 to the town of Harvard.
One check for $500 was given for the War Monument Restoration Committee and other $500 check was given to the Friends of the Harvard Council on Aging.
The footage is for a new Hulu television series “Castle Rock,” which is expected to be released early next year.
Julie Doucet, Town Administrator Executive Assistant, said the production company had contacted the town about the best recipients for a donation. The Friends of the Harvard Council on Aging raises fund for the Council on Aging. Debbie Thompson, Director of the Council, said that her requests for funds are for events and programs which the town does not fund.
The World War I monument and the flagpole near to it are currently being restored and it is the job of the War Monument Restoration Committee to raise funds for these projects. The committee recently received a grant of $2,000 on the condition that an equal amount is raised.
Flyers are often used to make announcements of donations such as this one and to publicize the continuing need to raise more money for these worthwhile projects and organization.
