Devens to become home to new health center

An inpatient treatment center for patients with substance abuse and psychiatric problems is planned to be built in Devens by Health Partners New England.

The center will be called Health Partners Treatment and Recovery Center and will be 75,000 square feet in size, with 104 beds. The scheduled opening date is the fall of 2016.

It is expected that more than 200 jobs will be created in the area as a result of the new facility, thereby perhaps requiring the services of a printing company to create digital business cards.

According to Michael Krupa, founder of Health Partners New England, Devens was chosen for this state-of -the art facility as it has a good location within central Massachusetts. There will be easy access to it for the professional and support staff who will work at the facility to provide innovative care focused on the patients, and for the families and patients who will use those services.

MassDevelopment now manages Devens, which was formerly a military base in north-central Massachusetts. The area is now home to recreational facilities and several businesses. MassDevelopment sold 7.5 acres of land to Health Partners New England so it could build the new treatment center.

Marty Jones, President and CEO of MassDevelopment, commented that Devens is ideal for this center as there are many businesses there specializing in healthcare innovation, with industry leaders in close proximity.
