What's Happening in Devens, MA…

Devens receives sustainability distinction

Devens has been recognized by the Devens Enterprise Commission (DEC) and MassDevelopment as a LEED Certified Community by the United States Green Building Council. Such communities have been able to be economically strong and maintain a healthy, green, and sustainable environment.

President and CEO of MassDevelopment, Lauren Liss, said that her organization has been working closely with those in the legislative area, the DEC, and the surrounding communities so that an attractive community of the 21st century could be created in the north-central part of the state. Banner printing companies can be hired so residents of such communities are aware of these distinctions and achievements.

Chairman of the DEC, William Marshall, added that MassDevelopment and the DEC have worked hard together to transform what was once Fort Devens into a model of redevelopment of a military base into a sustainable and successful community. Devens will be continuing its implementation, monitoring, and prioritizing efforts to maintain its sustainability goals and improve its livability and as a place for work and recreation.

Mahesh Ramanujam, President and CEO of United States Green Building Council, added that there is a concerted effort to help cities develop plans for transportation, water, energy, and other factors that make them more sustainable and result in higher standards of living for their residents. Congratulations should go to Devens for its many accomplishments in this area.
