Devens company purchase enhances industrial opportunities
MagneMotion, based in Devens, has recently agreed to be bought by Rockwell Automation.
MagneMotion manufactures intelligent conveying systems, which are used in a variety of industrial applications that include material handling, packaging, and general assembly. By acquiring MagneMotion, Rockwell Automation will be able to create a broad portfolio of independent cart solutions, which has become an emerging area of technology.
According to Vice President and General Manager of the motion control business of Rockwell Automation, Marco Wishart, the acquisition of MagneMotion will enable the company to expand its existing capabilities in independent cart technology and bring next generation performance to its customers today. This complements the company’s recent acquisition of Jacobs Automation and its iTRAK technology.
President and CEO of MagneMotion, Todd Weber, commented that this is a welcome development for his company and the next step in the evolution of its business. With Rockwell Automation being a leader in industrial automation and plant-wide controls, he added that this will be an opportunity for his company to introduce its technology to customers.
MagneMotion will be integrated within the architecture and software segment of Rockwell Automation’s motion business. The acquisition is expected to be completed this quarter.
