What's Happening in Devens, MA…

Devens becomes home to production of TV series

New England Studios of Devens are currently filming a 10-episode series that will be shown on Hulu of Stephen King’s fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine.

The series, produced by King and J.J. Abrams, will be a psychological-horror series, following the characters and stories of Stephen King’s themes and novels.

Sets have already begun being built on site in Devens, with filming to begin in August and run through January. Filming will also take place in Orange, more towards the western part of the state.

Director of the Massachusetts Production Coalition, David Hartman, commented that this is a very exciting project, as many movies have been produced in Massachusetts over the past 10 years but there have been very few television series created. He believes it has been over 25 years since the last TV series was filmed in the state.

Hartman and other officials are hoping that the series will be successful and return for future seasons. Such productions boost the local economy, by supporting local businesses and increasing spending, and he notes that more carpenters and electricians get hired, while hotels and restaurants get busy with production and talent crews.

Poster printing companies can be hired to create posters that can be displayed throughout Devens and the surrounding communities so these workers will know where they might find specials and discounts offered by these businesses.
