What's Happening in Devens, MA…

Acton museums have many plans for January

The Science Discover Museum and the Children’s Discovery Museum in Acton, not far from Devens, have lined up several activities for the rest of the month.

On Monday, January 19, between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, visitors can drop in at any time at the Science Discover Museum to design and build Tinytropolis, a mini-city that will be constructed out of cardboard. This will be a temporary exhibit that staff and visitors will put together over a period of five days.

Many events are scheduled in the Children’s Discovery Museum as well. Participants can explore the properties of ice on Wednesday, January 21, at 10:00 am and the weekly story time will be on Thursday, January 22, at 11:00 am.

Also on January 22, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, visitors can stop by at any time to learn about engineering, nanoscale science, and technology. Experiments will include working with a shape-changing metal and an attempt to change the color of a nickel.

The Great Hill Exploration will take place on Friday, January 23 at 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Participants will explore some of the trails in the wooded 184 acres of the Great Hill Conservation and Recreation Land.

Both museums may be reaching out to local printing companies to help advertise these events, as distributing flyers and mailing postcards to the community can help spread the word about these activities.
