Einstein’s Workshop in Burlington has announced that it is offering STEM classes for young people, starting soon. STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) careers are growing rapidly.
Technology is advancing in all aspects of life, and new products and lifestyles need to be created, supported, and upheld. This increasing reliance on technology is one reason why STEM occupations are growing faster than other fields. However, Einstein’s Workshop does not believe that it is necessary to restrict STEM to a classroom, and believes the principles of these disciplines can be learned through play and other exciting activities.
At Einstein’s Workshop, a class focuses on one program, concept, or tool in one of the four STEM categories taught: Robotics, Making & Inventing, Game Learning, and Coding. The curriculum used allows students to use actual projects and tools to learn how STEM operates in the real world. Some students will use cutting-edge technology such as vinyl cutters, 3D printers, and laser cutters in their classes. Programs like this can use flyer printing to create outlines, summaries, and other course materials.
Classes are available to students in grades from kindergarten through the eighth grade, with instruction designed to be age- and educational-level appropriate. Younger students enjoy learning to solve problems and think critically, while older students study the STEM concepts in more detail.
The program rotates every eight weeks, and classes meet on weekends, starting September 15.
