Specialized artwork available in Burlington

An artist who specializes in a unique artform will appear in Burlington later this month.

Edward Casey, who once worked at Walt Disney World, where he was a best-selling artist, will be in Burlington hand-cutting classic silhouettes. Cutting out silhouette portraits, usually using black cards, became popular in the mid-1700s and the art continues to this day

Casey creates his work using high-quality silhouette paper and scissors only, along with his powers of observation. He cuts the silhouettes in a matter of minutes, freehand, without using photo equipment or mechanical devices of any kind. Casey attributes his skill to his nearly five-decade long career in portraiture.

Silhouettes are exceptional gifts for spouses, grandparents, parents, and other members of the family. They often become family heirlooms, and the subject can be a family member, child, or even a pet. The price of the first silhouette is $35, or $50 if the artist Signs the work. Additional Copies of the same silhouette are $15. Flyer printing can provide handouts to customers explaining fees and what to expect at events like this.

Tickets are $10 and are refundable if they are canceled at least seven days before the event. The fee serves as the reservation for the appointment and is deducted from the total event price at checkout. There is no age limit on the subject, and in fact, Casey specializes in “squirmy” kids.

Edward Casey will be at the Pottery Barn in Burlington on July 25, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
