Java programming course coming soon

Burlington, Massachusetts’ Academy of Creative Arts is offering a program next week to introduce young people to the Java programming language.

The camp is two weeks long, and is designed for students in grades eight through twelve who are taking, or planning to take, computer science or programming classes in high school. No prior experience in programming of any kind is necessary.

The course instructors will use Java and Eclipse IDE to introduce computer programming to the students. They will teach students how to think logically, and familiarize them with the development of algorithms, as well as object-oriented structures. Students will also use the trial-and-error method to debug coding, and learn some general applications where programming is useful, such as websites and video games. The course provides a starting point for those who are considering their future career paths. In addition, students will acquire a skill that is in great demand.

Neeta Kalve is one of the instructors, and she has more than 15 years' experience in software development for the education and healthcare sectors.

Programming with Java is scheduled for August 6-10, and again August 13-17, and the sessions run from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm each day. All students need to bring is a laptop and a desire to learn. The Academy is on A Street in Burlington, and complete information is on the Academy's website.
