European retailer opens in Burlington Mall

Primark, with stores in downtown Boston, the Danbury Fair Mall in Connecticut, the Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey, and the King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania, recently opened a new location at the Burlington Mall.

Primark is an Irish retailer that sells men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing and accessories. President of Primark U.S., Jose Luis Martinez de Larramendi, said that the store was looking to expand in Massachusetts and is proud of its new store in Burlington. Massachusetts was where the company first decided to move to when it was decided to open stores in the United States and it seems that customers have been happy with the store and its offerings.

The store in Burlington will be 53,000 square feet in size, have 45 registers, and 43 fitting rooms. About 200 people have been hired for permanent merchandising and retail positions and another 100 people will be hired for the holiday season.

The retailer also gives back to the community. Among its initiatives, it has partnered with various organizations to provide health education and healthcare to women working in the factories that make their products. The company also works to improve working conditions for garment workers in developing markets.
