Burlington walk and run to support cancer care

The 5K Cancer Walk and Run for Lahey Health will be held for the 11th year later this month.

Starting and ending at

Burlington High School, the certified course was designed by Dave McGillivray Sports Enterprises. It takes a picturesque route through the town of Burlington, making a final loop around the High School.

The event is open to walkers, runners, people in wheelchairs and people pushing strollers and is also looking for volunteers and donors. Donations can be made in memory or in honor of someone, or as a donation to a specific team or runner.

Corporate sponsorships are also available. Major sponsors of this year’s event are HerbChambers.com and Armstrong Ambulance Services.

Those who pre-register can pick up their t-shirt and bib number prior to the race.

Over $1.5 million has been raised from the event over the past 10 years to support services for cancer care at Lahey Health locations in Gloucester, Peabody, Beverly, Burlington, and Winchester. Renovations of patient areas and equipment purchases have been made possible along with building a “healing garden” in Peabody where patients can relax outdoors.

Organizers are hoping to raise $285,000 this year and might benefit from turning to flyer printing companies to promote the event and the causes that it supports.

The Walk and Run will take place beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday June 25.
