Burlington to hold workshops on planning for commercial corridor

A multiday workshop will be held later this month regarding the rezoning and development of the corridor of the Burlington Mall Road.

These sessions are part of the process for creating a land use and long-term economic development plan for the largest commercial district in the area. The Planning and Economic Development Departments of Burlington are partnering with Dodson & Flinker Land Architecture and Planning and Brovitz Community Planning & Design on the plan.

The planning director of Burlington, Elizabeth Bonventre, said that Burlington has pride in this hub of commercial activity, which has been a boon to the economy of the region. Bonventre added that the community is also proactive and knows that the next stage of growth needs to be set for the area to remain relevant.

Study of the Mall Road Corridor began in 2020. Once a concept plan was developed last year, the town decided to hire consultants to engage stakeholders in the community and help develop a new zoning plan.

Word can be spread throughout a town about such workshops and their benefit for the community with poster printing.

The workshops will take place at the Piedmont Realty office building on Burlington Road from Tuesday, May 23 through Thursday, May 25 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday and Thursday and from 5:00 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday.
