The steakhouse, Smith & Wollensky, is planning to open a location in Burlington.
A press release from the company noted that this location in Burlington will expand the brand in the company’s hometown of Boston. It will be on Middlesex Turnpike in what was once the Del Frisco restaurant, which closed in October 2019.
PPX Brands, which is the parent company for Strega Italiano and Smith & Wollensky, had originally been granted a special permit to open a Strega restaurant in that space. It later changed its decision to open a Smith & Wollensky as it thought this restaurant would be a better fit.
A representative from PPX said that the company looked at the space and felt that Smith & Wollensky would be a more natural fit with the building that was already designed as a steakhouse.
The restaurant will have two levels of dining rooms, an indoor-out door bar on the upper level, a large horseshoe bar, outdoor patio dining, and expansive private event spaces. Local Print shops can help to spread the word about such new eateries planned in a region.
Smith & Wollensky has nine locations with two in the Boston area in Wellesley and another on Atlantic Wharf in Boston. There are also locations in Las Vegas, Nevado; Columbus, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois; Miami Beach, Florida; and New York, as well as overseas in London and Taipei City, Taiwan.
