North Carolina-based Edens, which owns 18 shopping malls in Massachusetts, has approached the Burlington planning commission for approval on refurbishing Burlington’s lights, signage and remodeled storefronts. There will be interior upgrades, plus a couple of restaurants in Burlington Crossroads would like a patio area.
The upgrades will, according to Burlington interim town planner Kristin Kassner:
“…ensure their continued success as a viable, dynamic plaza that has good tenants… and offers a good place to shop for local residents and employees.”
Edens purchased Middlesex Commons and Burlington Crossroads, which are only three miles away from each other, in 1998. Both properties are 39 years old and due for upgrading.
The company is famous for placing grocery stores as anchor tenants of each of its malls. Edens also has made a name for itself by purchasing complexes that are ripe for renovation, something it views as an opportunity. Grand openings of properties of this scale call for banner printing, to produce Banners for the exterior and interior of shopping malls advertising the opening.
Officials from the company believe that its Burlington properties are well located and that potential customers in the area are well educated, ‘daytime’ shoppers.
Should the Burlington planning board approve the project, renovations will start in April and should be finished by December 31, 2013.Get a Free Quote for Banners
