Burlington life science building purchased by university

The Burlington BioCenter has been purchased by Northeastern University.

The BioCenter is a state-of-the-art life sciences building. It is on Burlington Woods Drive and spans 109,000 square feet. Northeastern spent $33 million for the building which demonstrates the commitment of the university to innovation and research outside of its campus in Boston.

The BioCenter is close to the existing Burlington campus of Northeastern, which houses the George J. Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security. The recently purchased facility will support defense and homeland security research.

Renata Nyul, spokesperson for Northeastern, said that this expanding campus in Burlington is important to the global research endeavors of the university. Nyul added that the new facility will expand the capabilities and footprint of the university’s world class researchers.

Local Print shops can help spread the word about such acquisitions and their significance not only for a university but for the region as a whole.

The Burlington BioCenter was completed in 2019, and its cutting-edge laboratories were finalized three years ago. It is one of the few life sciences facilities in the area that are fully operational. Its features include high-efficiency HVAC, backup power, pH neutralization systems, and a glass lobby of two stories which is striking. Its closeness to Interstate 95 and Route 3 places it within the growing suburban biotech corridor of Greater Boston.
