Burlington gardeners will be able to get a jump start on its gardening calendar, thanks to a local fundraising sale.
Groundwork Somerville (GWS) recently announced that it has organized a seedling sale, and the community is encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity. Anyone who would like to avoid disappointment can pre-order their plants online ahead of time, and free seed packets will be distributed during the activity.
Along with a chance to purchase some strong, healthy transplants, people at the sale will be able to tour the farm, help paint a mural and enjoy the live entertainment in the works. There will be educational activities on deck, and the proceeds from the day will be utilized by GWS to produce fresh vegetables for a variety of community food pantries and feeding programs. The function will run for four hours.
Springtime seedling sales can give newbie gardeners a way to fill their beds without having to start the plants on their own. Care tip sheets, plant tags, and other items that can make a function go more smoothly can be ordered from an area brochure printing company.
Groundwork Somerville has scheduled its Spring Seedling Sale for May 7, and it will kick off at 10:00 am. The farm where it will be held is located at 138 South Street in Somerville.
