Throughout the month of November, the Burlington Public Library is holding a Hat and Mitten Drive.
New hats and gloves, all with their tags intact, will be accepted by the library. The library is also providing coupons that can be used once to waive up to $3 in overdue library fines. The People Helping People Holiday Program will be benefiting from this program.
Guided tours of the Landlocked Forest in Burlington will be offered by the Friends of the Landlocked Forest. The walk will be about three miles in length and attendees can meet at the kiosk on the Turning Mill Road in Lexington. Attendees can also meet in parking lot in the back of Burlington Town Hall and take the van to Lexington.
The name of the forest is derived from its location between conservation land in Bedford and Lexington and three major highway routes—Routes 62, 3, and 128. It is comprised of 250 acres of land and has 13 miles of trails, which can be used for walking dogs, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, walking, and many other leisure activities.
The walk will take place on Saturday, November 19, beginning at 12:45 pm, and is open to people of all ages.
Both the library and the Friends of the Landlocked Forest can promote these activities through the use of Flyers and other materials that can be distributed throughout the community.
