The 60th anniversary of the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR) will be celebrated next month at the Boston Marriott Burlington.
NAASR was founded in 1955 to preserve the study of the Armenian culture in the United States. Yervant Chekijian, Chairman of the Board, commented that the organization is proud to have enabled the establishment of two chairs in Armenian Studies at Harvard University and UCLA, as well as two centers with endowments, three endowed visiting positions, and fourteen endowed professorships in the U.S. It now has this opportunity to share its vision for the future.
Adi Ignatius, Editor-in-Chief of Harvard Business Review, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening and Eric Bogosian, an award-winning author and actor, will be the keynote speaker.
Over the course of the evening, experts in Armenian studies will be honored. The Founders’ Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Armenian Studies will be given to Avedissian Professor Emerita of Armenian History and Civilization at Columbia University, Dr. Nina Garsoian, and Professor Emeritus of Modern Armenian and Near Eastern History at UCLA, Dr. Richard G. Hovannisian,
The NAASR could consider booklet printing to create something outlining how it provide resources to advance Armenian Studies and its other accomplishments over the past 60 years, then distributing it at the November 12 event.
