The Beverly Fire Department recently announced that two new engines will be going into service, thereby replacing and retiring the vehicles names Five and Two, which are both more than 20 years old.

Most likely, the Fire Department has been using poster printing to let the community about these new engines and the positive impacts they could have on the citizens of Beverly.

The decision was made by a committee of deputy chiefs, firefighters, fire officials, and mechanics who went to trade shows and evaluated the various options, depending on the needs of the Department, according to committee member Chad McCormack.

The city paid about $1m for the new engines, but they now have new equipment, modern technology and other updates that will make it safer and easier for firefighters to do their job, says deputy chief Mike McCadden. The North Beverly Fire Station will receive the first truck this month and the second one will arrive in July.

McCadden added that one of the engines being replaced has an open cab at the back so the firefighter standing there is exposed to the elements. Both engines have been backup engines and were very run down, causing problems if one of the front line pieces went down. Once the old trucks have been replaced and decommissioned, they will go out for bid.
