During spring, woodland plants sprout quickly to take full advantage of the season’s sunshine, and these ephemerals may be just some of the species spotted during a walk planned for a Beverly venue.
Local nature lovers may enjoy the spring walk that will visit Camp Paradise, which is located at 44 Cole Street in Beverly. It's been scheduled for a Saturday afternoon so it can accommodate as many as possible. Iris Weaver, who is a local forging instructor and bioregional herbalist will share her knowledge, and she can answer questions from the group.
The activity is open to those age 12 and up, and anyone 15 and under will need to have a parent or guardian on hand with them. Tickets are $30.00 each, and everyone is advised to bring a camera or phone as well as a notebook and pen. While the group walks the route, they will see and learn about native plant species that are often overlooked. These include the ephemerals, which are plants that grow quickly in the open sunlight before the larger trees and shrubs leaf out.
To provide the attendees with even more information, handouts will be distributed. Stationery printers can prepare custom materials for an event.
The spring session of the Connecting with the Plants of Camp Paradise series is set for April 25th. The subsequent dates will be held in July and September.
