Beverly birders will soon be climbing aboard for a special outing, and it will be led by a subject matter expert.
Essex Heritage has organized a birding boat tour to Great Misery Island, and the participants can expect to see an assortment of species. The facilitator will be Chris Leahy, and tickets start at $30.10.
The activity is open to those age 4 and up, and any minors will need to attend alongside an adult. It will provide an in-depth exploration of the wildlife that calls the island home, and a boat trip to and from the island is included. As it will take place at the start of the fall migration, the participants may be able to spot a variety of avian species on their way south. The trails will be well maintained, and everyone is advised to wear insect and tick repellent as well as comfortable shoes and sunscreen. Pets will not be permitted, but service animals covered by the ADA will be welcome.
Organizers may be the market for custom prepared materials such as waivers, safety instruction sheets and other materials. Stationery printers that are able to offer in house graphic design work will be able to lend a helping hand.
Beverly birders who register for this special outing are asked to be at its departure point located at the Salem Boat Dock in Salem by 8:00 am sharp on September 18th. Its run time will be three and half hours.
