New construction to start at Beverly Airport

The Aeronautics Division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) recently announced that it will be distributing funds for renovation and new construction at 15 general aviation airports by next year, starting with the four municipal airports in Beverly, Mansfield, Fitchburg, and Southbridge.

MassDOT chose the airports based on the amount of activity at each airport and public safety needs.

A new administrative facility, costing $3.74m, will be built at Beverly, with construction to begin next year and planned completion within nine months. The building will include a conference room, offices, a lounge, and bathrooms for pilots. Paul Vitale, Beverly Airport Commission Chairman, added that there will also be an outdoor viewing area with picnic tables and a patio so people can watch the planes on the runway and enjoy an outdoor meal.

People working at the airport are now based in a 10’x20’ building that was initially designed to be a storage room for equipment.

According to Robert Mezzetti, manager of the Beverly Airport, the new building will make the airport experience better for pilots, workers, and visitors. He believes those who come to the airport will find a welcome and good-looking facility.

Businesses and other organizations can now use flyer printing to highlight these investments so as to attract more people to the North Shore.
