Beverly workshop explores herb growing for home gardeners

Growing herbs in the home garden can be a thrifty and rewarding experience, and Beverly’s Recreation Department has organized a class that will help people get started.

A class covering the basics of growing culinary herbs in the home garden has been scheduled. Taking place at Camp Paradise, the session will teach how to cultivate them in the ground, or in a pot on a patio or balcony.

Participants will find out which herbs are suited to going at home, with 10 of them on the list. Tips for harvesting, preserving, storing, and using them will be on the agenda.

Iris Weaver will be the facilitator for the evening. The activity will run for one and a half hours, and handouts will be supplied to all attendees so they can continue to discover the joys of cultivating these plants at home.

Gardening is a hobby that can be enjoyed by most ages and abilities, and it can also be a fun way to trim a household’s grocery bills. Print shops can supply a variety of Promotional Products, ranging from dibblers to specially printed paper packets for saving seeds.

This introduction to the art and science of growing herbs in the home garden will be on offer on June 25. The venue can be found at 44 Cole Street. The registration fee is $30 per person.
