New commuter flights to be added from airport in Beverly

Beverly Regional Airport is planning to operate commuter flights to Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard.

Gloria Bouillon, manager of the airport said that the provider of the flights is still under negotiation. She added that they currently operate a charter service, so they came to the airport at just the right time. Also, she said there has been a lot of positive feedback from the community regarding these new flights. She expressed pride in the airport being efficient and able to provide for the wants and needs of its customers.

Bouillon said that flight schedules and ticket prices will be announced in a few weeks. Local Print shops can be hired to create leaflets and other printed materials with such information once it becomes available. Once service begins, eight people will be able to board the plane and then arrive at their destination within 45 minutes.

It is expected that this service will be available throughout the year but that the number of flights at any given time will depend on demand. Bouillon said there will most likely be seasonal scheduling with fewer flights during the winter.

This new service is expected to begin at the end of the month. Bouillon anticipates that more destinations will be added as early as September to such locations as Providence, New York City, and Bar Harbor.
