New apartment building to open in downtown Beverly

Beverly Crossing and Goldberg Properties are partnering to construct a new building with 60 apartments at the west end of Rantoul Street near the Beverly-Salem bridge.

The building will have a small commercial space and one level of garage parking. There would be studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. Among the amenities at the building will be bike storage, a fitness center, and gathering spaces both indoors and outdoors. Brochure printing is often used to highlight such special amenities and friendly living spaces.

Chris Koeplin, president of Beverly Crossing, said that the project is in the early planning stages so that there are no images of what the complex would look like. He added that there are five buildings in the area thar would need to be demolished, two of which are businesses and the other three are apartments. The height of the building still needs to be determined but would meet the zoning requirements of the city in that area for height and parking.

Mayor Mike Cahill of Beverly said the concept of the building is in line with the idea of placing more transit-oriented housing in the downtown area. The two companies added that its location near the Beverly-Salem bridge would serve as a gateway to the city.

The companies plan to begin the process of getting permits this spring or summer and break ground sometime in 2023.
