The city of Beverly will be hosting two “Summer Salsa in the Park” events in Lynch Park this summer. These events will enable attendees to practice their salsa moves or learn the basics of the dance.
Such special events are often promoted throughout a community with poster printing.
The instructor for the events will be Yaya Rodriguez. The evening events will begin with an hour of instruction to be followed by social dancing, accompanied by DJ Frankin Condori. People can attend as individuals or with a group, and no experience in necessary.
The organizer of the event, Katherine Shao, noted that Latin American countries host social dancing everywhere as it is very much a part of the culture to have dancing and music. Shao added that the goal of these events is to recreate the vibe of Latin America on the North Shore. She had applied for a grant from the Beverly Cultural Council to make these events possible.
Attendees are encouraged to bring water and other alcohol-free beverages, as well as a picnic dinner as picnic tables will also be available. Dancing will take place on the shell and the surrounding lawn.
The Summer Salsa in the Park events will take place on Wednesday, July 13 and Wednesday, August 24, with both running from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
