Beverlys latest addition to be Irish inspired

Two Irishmen, Steve Murphy and Michael Coen, will be opening an Irish-American pub in downtown Beverly at the end of this month, or the beginning of the next.

The restaurant is to be named The Indo after the largest-selling daily newspaper in Ireland, the Irish Independent. It will be decorated with deep brown hardwood floors, with handmade dark wooden tables and black antiques accenting the space. A new bar and draft system has been installed and the bathrooms and kitchen were completely renovated.

Beverages will include a selection of 24 beers on draught and an additional 10 to 15 bottles, changed on a weekly basis, with little repetition in terms of brands. Wine and simple craft cocktails made from homemade syrups or fresh juices will also be available.

Specialty items on the food menu will include a traditional fish and chips plate served in newspaper. Several appetizers and sandwiches will be served, with more entrees planned for the future.

Speaking to Wicked Local Beverly, Coen commented that the idea of the restaurant is to be a local neighborhood pub, with entertainment including an open mic night, trivia nights, and the occasional Irish session.
