Beverly plans fishy event for spring

Beverly will be holding its second annual Art in the Park program. These artworks will be showcased later this spring at Hale Farm and auctioned online.

The theme of this year’s program is “Hyper Stripers” as local artists will be asked to decorate or paint profiles in the shape of a large Striper fish. The fish are one foot wide and three feet high and made of PVC. The fish are freestanding so that both edges and sides will need to be painted. The artwork will be displayed outdoors so all materials and paint used must be water, wind, and weatherproof.

Artists looking to be considered for this program need to complete a form that is online and include three photographs of work they have already completed. The minimum age for consideration is 16 and artists do not need to be residents of Beverly, although they will be responsible for dropping off and picking up their work in the city. Poster printing is often used to inform the community of such events and the application process for consideration.

Once the artwork has been displayed it will be auctioned. Beverly Main Streets and the artist will evenly split the winning bid, with the artist guaranteed to receive at least $100.

The artwork will be displayed to the public on Saturday May 8 and Sunday May 9, with the auction beginning on Saturday.
