Knowing how to perform simple repairs can save money and help the environment, and a Beverly workshop will provide an opportunity to learn how to do so.
The FixIt Clinic will be taking place in late April, and it is open to anyone who either wants to bring broken items along or be a coach for the day. Bikes, small appliances, electronics, clothing, and other items in need of repair are all welcome at this session sponsored by the Beverley Waste Reduction Center.
Attendees will be able to learn from the experts, who will offer tips and advice. Everyone will be able to open up their item to troubleshoot and repair what they have brought. Kids six and up are encouraged to attend, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Everyone is asked to bring along any tools they might have for the task at hand, and they will need to describe the problem and also how they have already tried to fix it. Everyone will be encouraged to share their knowledge.
The repair-it-yourself movement has been gaining momentum. Basic repair guides and other bound learning materials can be prepared for an activity like this by local Stationery printers.
This afternoon of engaging in some simple repairs will be on offer on Saturday, April 20 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm. It will be held in the Main Library located at 32 Essex Street.
