Jefferson asked to look out for local community
To help celebrate Earth Day, a Jefferson area neighborhood will be hosting a community clean-up, and all assistance is welcome.
This day of hands-on environmental action will see Edgewood Park enjoy a good spring clean, and the participants will be working on a variety of projects. It was explained that one of the most important tasks will be to clean catch basins so that they will flow freely during hurricane season, as this will help to prevent flooding and other damage.
The cleaners will meet up at New Genesis Bible Church before they get started, and will work their way from there out. Water will be provided to guests, as will the necessary tools like trash bags, shovels, and clean-up gear, but everyone who attends is asked to bring their own gloves. Breakfast and lunch will be served, and it may be a good chance to meet others who care about the environment.
A community service project like this offers the public a way to give back. A printer can prepare an assortment of promotional products to distribute to the volunteers to thank them for their hard work.
The Edgewood Park Neighborhood Association has planned this activity for April 17.The gathering point for those who volunteer for the day will be set up at 3711 Franklin Avenue.
