Nonprofit and dive shop in Baton Rouge recognized by Louisiana legislators

First responders who ensure the safety of the state during a crisis, and an organization that cares for veterans during times of need, were recently honored by lawmakers at the Louisiana State Capitol.

Franklin Foil, a state representative from Baton Rouge, recognized the dive shop Seven Seas and Storm 22, a nonprofit organization, on the floor of the house. Foil is a veteran and commented that it is important to assist those who have served this country, especially those with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Foil added that Storm 22 takes first responders and military veterans with PTSD on fishing and hunting trips. Those with PTSD, in particular, have a difficult time returning to society. Storm 22 has also partnered with Seven Seas, a dive shop in Baton Rouge, to raise money so it can teach veterans to dive as a way to help them overcome their disabilities. Poster printing can be used to publicize such recognitions to help with fundraising efforts.

Storm 22 was founded in 2016 by Brad Ford. Ford expressed his excitement about the lawmakers in Louisiana recognizing military veterans and the organization. He was unaware of the recognition was to take place until about two weeks before it was scheduled.

However, the organization needs more recognition and its associated publicity to enable it to raise funds to further its efforts in helping veterans.
