The 2020 Red Stick Farmers Market in Baton Rouge will continue for another couple of months before coming to an end in time for the holidays.
The market is an event where farmers can sell only what was grown on their farms, and produce varies by the season.
The organizer of the event is BREADA, which developed the Red Stick Farmers Market nearly 20 years ago. The organization was instrumental in moving the local market to 5th and Main Streets and enticing many farmers to participate. It works with the Baton Rouge Area Foundation and the state. Over the years, its outreach has included small farmers as well as mobile farmers, allowing service to some of the more isolated neighborhoods within the community.
The Red Sticks Market offers a bountiful harvest for each season every Thursday, rain or shine. Over 50 vendors typically participate, including farmers and artisans. Food for purchase includes fruits, eggs, dairy, baked goods, vegetables, poultry, Angus Beef, local wines, and fresh plants and flowers.
Outdoor events often need signage to help with directions and vendor information. Local printing services can help with producing Banners, often with grommets built into them for ease of hanging on posts.
The Baton Rouge Red Sticks Farmers Market takes place at Pennington Biomedical Center located at 6400 Perkins Road. Recurring weekly each Thursday from 8:00 am to noon, the event is free to the public. December 17 will be its final date this year.
