Chance to visit local art museum from home

The LSU Museum of Art in the Baton Rouge area has a couple of months left in its virtual tour programs for students and groups.

The museum has educator-led tours available via video. These tours allow students and other interested groups the opportunity to view the museum while they learn about the many displays within the entity.

Critical thinking is part of the program, as students engage with the leader asking questions just as they would in an in-person tour. Hands-on projects to complete at home are presented by the tour guide, which also make for suitable classroom activities.

During the tours, up to four art objects will be discussed and viewed at the museum. Teachers and group leaders can choose from a selection of exhibits and themes. Some that are available include Art in Louisiana; Portraits, Materials and Tools; Landscape; Letitia Huckaby: This Same Dusty Road; and Southbound: Photographs of and about the New South.

Graphic design is important for virtual presentations and can be produced by artists at local Print shops. Vivid colors, logos, and other identifiers attract attention and create memories.

Customized virtual tours can be arranged with at least four weeks advance notice. They can be customized for a specific subject or skill. More information about the online tour, which will continue until December 31, is available via the LSU website.
