The Raising Cane's River Center in Baton Rouge will host a touring performance of the beloved classic musical “Fiddler on the Roof.” This will be a part of the center's Broadway in Baton Rouge 2021-2022 season.
Having debuted in 1964, the original production of Fiddler on the Roof holds the distinction of being the first to surpass 3,000 performances. It also held the record for the longest running Broadway performance until Grease. The musical also won nine Tony Awards. These included ones for the score, book, and choreography.
The musical tells the story of a Jewish family in the Russian village of Anatevka in 1905. The daughters of the family wish to marry for love, and the father, Tevye, struggles to cope with their choices.
The Raising Cane's River Center is a cultural mecca of downtown Baton Rouge. This complex has a grand ballroom, 10,000-seat arena, 1,900-seat performing arts center, and a 70,000 square foot exhibition hall.
Its mission, as stated on its website, is to be a place where the performing arts can flourish. Often, venues like this use poster and brochure printing to publicize their aims.
