Birding experience brings nature to Baton Rouge

Baton Rouge residents seeking an excursion into nature are in for a treat, as a birding session is being planned to bring interested parties closer to nature.

The Birding at Burden guided birding excursion has an official date in the calendar, with the guide set to offer a walk through nature to beginners and experienced birders from around Baton Rouge. The region is home to over 320 bird species, including wading birds, woodpeckers, and migratory songbirds.

Interested parties are encouraged to grab their birding gear and prepare for an early morning, as the excursion will require a two-hour guided tour through Burden’s birding loops. The groups are limited to 15 attendees, and birders are encouraged to reserve a spot while they remain. Brochure printing is a fantastic resource to aid birders in identifying the birds they witness on such excursions, enhancing their experience.

The Louisiana State University AgCenter Botanical Gardens is organizing the excursion, offering 400 acres of green space in the heart of Baton Rouge. Binoculars, birding apps, sunscreen, insect repellent, water, and snacks are encouraged for a comfortable and memorable experience. Harriett Pooler will be the excursion’s guide.

The Botanical Gardens at Burden will host the birding experience on Saturday, December 14th. The tour will begin at 7:00 AM and end at 9:00 AM. General admission tickets are available online for $10 per guest.
