Birding brings Baton Rouge closer to nature

Bird watchers and nature enthusiasts are in for a treat next month, as a birding event is being planned in the Baton Rouge area.

The Birding at Burden April 2025 nature event has a date in the calendar, and interested parties in Baton Rouge are encouraged to grab their gear and indulge in the experience. The event will be a guided birding adventure that is ideal for both beginners and experienced birders.

Attendees will have an opportunity to see many of the 320 bird species located in the Burden area. Common species like ruby-throated hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and waterfowl, along with migratory songbirds, are abundant.

Participants will want to bring their birding gear for the early morning excursion, which will last two hours and will be led by multiple experts in the birding field. Brochure printing can provide more information about different bird species living in the area to aid the learning and identification process.

Capacity is limited to 15 participants per group, with two groups going on the excursion. Binoculars and a cell phone, a birding app, sunscreen, water, and snacks are encouraged. Guests should check and dress for the weather.

Registered participants will meet at the Rural Life Museum parking lot at the LSU Ag Center on Saturday, April 12th. The excursion will run from 7:00 AM until 9:00 AM. Tickets are $10 per person online.
