Southgate principal to attend special leadership course

The Kentucky Chamber of Commerce has announced that two principals from Northern Kentucky will be part of an executive leadership training course over the next year.

The community is often made aware of such announcements with poster printing.

Julie Rubemeyer, principal of the Southgate School, and Matthew Shafer, principal of Ryle High School, will be attending the Foundation’s Leadership Institute for School Principals of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. This is a course that the top CEOs in the country typically attend.

The two principals will be attending classes in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Truist Leadership Institute this summer. The Truist Leadership Institute has tailored its course to meet the leadership needs of administrators of schools and is partnering with the Kentucky Chamber Foundation in doing so. There will be follow-up sessions in the fall and early spring in Kentucky.

Rubemeyer said providing leadership to the many stakeholders in the community and the school is the most challenging aspect of being a school principal. She added that she is looking forward to learning new strategies to increase her effectiveness as a principal and to improving her leadership skills.

President and CEO of the Chamber, Ashli Watts, commented that the Leadership Institute for School Principals is very much supported by the business community, which wants to ensure the success of the schools in the state.
