This is a recognition given every year honoring residents of Northern Kentucky, which include Southgate, whose service has been selfless and made a real impact in the community. Those who truly exemplify the motto of the Rotary, “Service Above Self,” are celebrated with this award.
Those who can be nominated need to meet the following conditions:
• Currently reside in Northern Kentucky
• Earned the admiration and respect of neighbors, friends, and peers
• Demonstration of the of the motto of the Rotary through their professional, personal, or volunteer activities
• Play a meaningful and active role in community improvement
Multiple letters of support from nominators are encouraged by the Rotary Club to help demonstrate the impact of a nominee on the community. Poster printing can be used throughout a region to inform residents of such awards and provide more information about eligibility and the nomination process.
President of the Rotary Club of Florence, Matt Turner, said:
“Every community is shaped by people who choose to serve others, often without anyone knowing the difference they’ve made.”
Nominations need to be made online and are due on Friday August 7 by 5:00 p.m. During a special Rotary Club of Florence meeting on Monday, October 5, the Citizen of the Year for 2026 will be recognized.
